Ryan Whelan is a Managing Director and the Global Head of Cyber Intelligence at Accenture Security. Ryan is an executive leader in cybersecurity, threat intelligence, enterprise technology, and risk management. He brings over fifteen years of experience from the military, government, and commercial sectors. Ryan’s career began in the US Army and various government roles, before transitioning to advisory work with organizations including PwC, Guidehouse, Mandiant, and Google. Ryan Previously served as Google and Mandiant Global delivery lead for Intelligence Services and most recently worked as EVP & CISO of startup battery manufacturer Our Next Energy. In his role at Accenture, Ryan is helping to reshape the role intelligence can plan in supporting security transformation and building resilient organizations. Ryan leads a team of industry experts, threat hunters, and researchers to expose adversaries and advise security teams and leaders on the best methods to mitigate risk and defend against persistent and emerging threats.

Ryan continues to serve in the Army Reserve where he leads Security, Risk and Resilience support to companies working with the Defense Innovation Unit. Ryan founded DIU’s newest office in Chicago, IL and leads efforts to bring critical new technology to the frontlines of national security. Ryan holds BAs from Miami University of Ohio, a MA from Columbia University, and a MS from the National Intelligence University. Ryan lives outside Chicago, IL with his wife and four kids.
